Minister Đurić Confers with French Special Envoy for the Western Balkans René Troccaz

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Đurić met today with Special Envoy of the French Republic for the Western Balkans René Troccaz to discuss bilateral relations, the current situation in the region, and key issues of mutual interest to the two countries.

The Serbian Foreign Minister assessed relations between the two countries as excellent, as evidenced by the continuous dialogue at the highest level and the numerous projects implemented to date across a range of areas. In this context, he also referred to yesterday’s meeting between President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić and President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, where the International Space Summit is being held.

Speaking about the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, Đurić drew attention to the difficult position of the Serbian population, which is subjected to legal and physical violence by the provisional institutions there, while Pristina’s political representatives have, for a considerable period of time, effectively refused to resume the dialogue and fulfill their obligations through various forms of obstruction and conditionality.

In reviewing and exchanging views on the situation in the region, Minister Đurić underscored that Serbia is firmly focused on the future and remains committed to continuing its contribution to stability, peace and cooperation in the Balkans, while further intensifying its reform efforts as part of the European integration process.

Minister Đurić thanked France for its continued support for Serbia on its path towards EU membership, and particularly for its efforts in support of the opening of Cluster 3. He emphasised that, alongside fulfilling its European agenda, Serbia is also putting forward creative solutions aimed at enabling its citizens to experience the benefits of EU enlargement at the earliest possible opportunity.
